Aloof......Me......Sigh......

This is tough. I knew it would be. But. But others have crossed the same bridge and climbed the same wall that I am steadily approaching.
So there is no doubt that it can be done. No doubt.
I been praying. Studying. Praying. Studying. Praying. Eating. Slee..nope aint been sleeping.
This is likely my last post for a minute, well, till after I complete my journey. So it may be stale around this joint.
Thanks to my fam and friends for the encouragement and the prayers. No doubt, oh and us don't stop praying.
It really aint that bad, I could be in Iraq or or headed to Iraq.
Speaking of, much love to one of our LOC Alpha Sweethearts recently shipped to Iraq. Be safe. Praying for your safe return to your family.

Which Did You Pick

This is a short film being shown at the Media That Matters Film Festival. It's a youth documentary done by Kiri Davis. In an interview Ms. Davis says, "For my high-school literature class I was constructing an anthology with a wide range of different stories that I believed reflected the black girl’s experience."
It's only seven minutes long. Take a look see.

Fillin In

This Black History moment brought by GN1.
Cheryl "Peaches" Delaney of Englewood, NJ, was working the night shift at a McDonald's in 1974. The 16 year-old high school junior had just been severely reprimanded by her manager, one Arnold McFarland, over her Afro hairdo being unprofessional.
McFarland gave her an ultimatum of wearing a clown hat or being fired, and Delaney, working to save money for cosmetology school, relented and wore the clown hat.
Hours later, she noticed several of her classmates at the drive-through window, on their way to a party. Luscious Jones, Fred Williams, Eddie James, and Derrick Smith were riding in a green AMC Pacer. The four of them ordered four hamburgers, and were going to split three orders of fries and two Cokes.
Peaches, filling the order, noticing that McFarland (the manager) had taken his nightly thirty-minute bathroom break, had an epiphany. She locked eyes with LaWanda, who was on fries, and Fat Sam, who was on the register and in a blur of motion, they stuffed 4 jumbo bags with every single hamburger, cheeseburger, french fry, cookie, and other item they could find, accepting $1.01 from Luscious Jones as payment.
Cheryl "Peaches" Delaney had invented................"The Hook-Up."
For those of us who missed black history class in undegrad......Thanks Kosh.

Morning Read

Excellent piece written by Frank Rich of the New York Times. I could not direct link it, but I found it on another site, http://welcome-to-pottersville.blogspot.com/2007/02/frank-rich-why-dick-cheney-cracked-up.html .
Since my Chargers are not playing in the Super Bowl, I don't plan on watching it. Though it did not directly dawn on me until mentioned by others, the two teams are headed by black coaches. I should be hyped..........perhaps to an extent. Probably the first time there have been two black coaches in the Super Bowl. That's tight, given the few there are in the league, given how long it took to get one in the league. But, you know, given the fact that blacks represent a large majority of the players in the league, not only should there be just as many black coaches, but it should be reflected in most teams front offices. Wonder how many black team general managers exist in the league. Damn aint no satisfying black folk, hunh?
