Final Lap

Wow, I took my last Law school exam today. My legal studies are almost complete! Is that light at the end of the tunnel I see? One more matter left to handle. By this time tomorrow, the game will be over. Well, kind of, but not really, more like going into over time. TV timeout you know, 30 second timeout on the floor....
Can't celebrate quite yet, got one more class matter left.
My sisters will be in town tomorrow, how shall I bore them here in Memphis?
Whoa, beloved is in my Box. Damn, a grade already???? I think I shall open this after graduation...........dang.......
Oh, I forgot. You know I love competing. How bout a little competition? You and me, brain against brain. I got a 21, beat that! How stoopid are you? Let me know something....http://www.flashbynight.com/test/
Ok, hold up, you can take it twice, I got a 23 the second time
I was wondering what happened to the Manatee in the MIssissippi River. I hope he didn't, but he did, http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/local/article/0,2845,MCA_25340_5209582,00.html

Let Me Think About That

Doing a little reading while studying.....saw this
"Has the President so failed in his duties to the nation that he should leave office? The answer to that question is yes, and the time for the President to leave is not after months of continued national embarrassment but now. Clinton should resign."
That quote cracks me up. It came from the USA Today editorial, Sept. 15, 1998. Around the time Clinton got busted for the Lewinsky thingy.
So here were are with about 3000 dead soldiers and thousands upon thousands of soldiers maimed for life, not even gonna mention the hundreds of thousand dead in Iraq. (Oops, I did.) The same folk that called for the impeachment of Clinton dare say such words about a dude who has brought more death and pain to the world than any in recent time. What a joke.
Marinate on this till the next time, http://www.thenation.com/blogs/thebeat?bid=1&pid=146722

What You Call Me, Nicca?

When Kramer from Seinfeld, Mr. Richards, went on his tirade using the word Nicca, I don't know if I can say whether I was offended. The way he used the word, or should I say the situation in which he used it, made me raise my brow. But I kind of just blew the whole incident off. I guess the code is, "Whites best not use the word".
I was in class one day, when a professor discussing a discrimination case, said the word nicca while lecturing. I halted the note taking to marinate mentally for a second, could he have just said "the N word", instead of nicca? I thought as well, why you acting all sensitive, you say the damn word too, tighten up. Mind you the professor who said it is one the realest, there was no need to determine whether he got any pleasure out of saying the word.
When I relocated from Cali to Memphis, I never used the word. I was a Public Enemy head, such words were a violation. I would literally lecture my friends who did use the word towards each other. Then I got to LOC. Like water on a rock, in time I started using the word.
Jessie J., recently challenged the entertainment community to cease and desist using the word. The word has become so darn common, it flows like water from their mouths. Little kids use it like its nothing. I do think that rap, and comedians are somewhat to blame. (Yea I am blaming rappers for some more ish.)
Either way, I think black folk are gonna have to let whites have an open pass to use the word. WHY NOT? WE AINT OFFENDED NO MO BY THE WORD. ARE WE?
Here's a good piece to read, here is a quote from the article., "Every day we are made conscious of our own race and status in society by a host of peers and judges in a range of venues. And even if we never have to endure an altercation with the police, we still are acutely aware of how easily we can be made to feel like niggers: our gait, tone, behavior, our proximity to valuables (or more valuable people) is scrutinized. And our choice to accept this reality and conform to earn that eye contact, that begrudging customer service or that success in hailing a cab is related to this issue of brutality, because it is an assault on our citizenship and very humanity." What a Waste

The War on drugs in BS. For real. We have had a war on drugs since I was child and that was not too long ago. But we aint winning the ish. How bout Afghanistan the country we brought liberty to, (so I was told) is leading the world in poppy production, the ish to make most of the worlds heroin. I don't think any of us know anyone growing coca in their backyards, you know, the ish that makes cocaine.
So I am in court, during sentencing. I come across a black woman in her early thirties. She was arrested for selling $5.OO worth of crack. Yes, $5.00, not $500, not $5000.00. I think to myself, why in the hell was this woman even here? As my though process gets deeper, I am thinking, how much money did it cost taxpayers to arrest, book, process, jail, arraign, transport, have her appear before the court, to plead guilty, and to do 2 years in jail time? Is it really worth it?
You thinking bout it?
Still thinking?
Let me help you.........................................hell no it aint.
Think about it, why even arrest the chick when you determine all she had was $5.00 worth of crack to sell? Really. What she needed was help. Instead of arresting her, send her to some rehabilitation center. Instead she will serve maybe 8 months of a two year sentence and likely end back up on the streets. She needs help, not jail.
What a waste. How the hell cocaine getting in the hood anyway?
Memo to whoever. If you plan on killing someone, don't put it on a track and rap about it.

Tip Toeing About

I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Beloved was officially delivered Monday at 3:00. I do have to send a shout out to one of the school's secretaries, I appreciate the kindness shown in dealing with me and Beloved. A lot of weight was lifted when I set Beloved free.
