The right leaning Supreme Court recently ruled the police do not have to knock when executing a search/arrest warrant. The rule in the past was to knock and announce, now, the popo may do as it pleases, which they basically do anyway, but any evidence siezed as a result will not be excluded/suppressed when the knock and announce is violated. The rule had been in place to prevent police misconduct, now, who knows. I wonder what Prof. Shappy has to say about this?
